28th June 2007 - Flooding: Linda pushes for EU to help victims

Euro MP Linda McAvan, who lives in Sheffield, is asking for European funding to help flood victims. Linda is currently liaising closely with the EU Commission and working with South Yorkshire Councils to secure EU funding for people who have to cope with the cost of the recent flood damage.

Linda McAvan MEP said;

"My heart goes out to the families who have lost loved ones in the floods. Thousands of homes have been flooded and very large numbers of families are in temporary accommodation. Everybody, from local Councils to the European Union, needs to pull together to get as much help as possible for families, who are struggling with the damage."
