11th March 2008 - Labour's European election team unveiled

Yorkshire and the Humber’s Labour Members of the European Parliament have thanked Party members of their support after being reselected to head Labour’s list of candidates for next year’s European elections.

Over the weekend, the votes of thousands of Labour Party members were counted, resulting in the selection of the following list of candidates:

1. Linda McAvan MEP
2. Richard Corbett MEP
3. Emma Hoddinott
4. David Bowe
5. Melanie Onn
6. Mahroof Hussain MBE

The elections to the European Parliament, which take place under a form of proportional representation, will take place in June 2009.

In a joint statement, Richard Corbett and Linda McAvan said;

“We are delighted to have been chosen by Labour Party members to head the list of candidates for next year’s European elections. We will continue to work hard to ensure that the European Union delivers for the people of Yorkshire and the Humber.”
